Terms of Use

Last updated 3 August 2026

These are the rules for using AITA, operated by the AITA team. By signing in you agree to them. Questions go to support@aita.app.

What AITA is, and what it is not

AITA is entertainment. An AI plays the part of a judge and rules on everyday arguments people submit. The courtroom is a joke format, not a court.

Nothing in the app is legal advice, and no ruling has any legal effect whatsoever. Do not rely on a verdict for any real decision. If you need legal advice, talk to a lawyer.

Who can use it

You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and you must meet the app store's minimum age rating for AITA. One account per person.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you write and upload. By posting it, you give us permission to store it, show it to other users when you publish it, and send it to our AI providers to generate a ruling and screen it for safety. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the de-identified records described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you post. Only write about your own experiences, and do not post someone else's private information.

What you may not post

There is no tolerance for any of the following:

We screen content automatically and we act on reports. Content that enough people report is hidden pending review. We can remove content, lock a discussion, or terminate an account that breaks these rules, and for the most serious categories we will do so without warning.

Reporting and blocking

Every case, comment, and user can be reported from inside the app, and you can block any user so their content stops reaching you. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.

Credits, purchases, and subscriptions

Rulings cost credits. You get some for free, you can earn more by watching a rewarded ad, and you can buy more or subscribe for a recurring allowance.

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us. Billing, renewals, and cancellations are managed in your store account, and refunds are subject to that store's policy. A subscription renews until you cancel it.

Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are not refundable except where the law or the store's policy requires it.

Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app. We will not knowingly take away credits you have paid for without offering a remedy.

Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided as is. AI generated rulings are frequently wrong, and are written to be funny rather than correct. We make no warranty that the app or any verdict is accurate, reliable, or fit for any purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Changes

If we change these terms materially, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
